Water Distribution & Waste Water Treatment

Kerman, California

Location: California

Application: Water distribution & waste water treatment.

Description: City water system consisting of multiple well locations is controlled by using VFD's to minimize energy consumption. Based on water demand reflected in line pressures, wells are brought on line as required and operating pump speeds are adjusted to maintain optimum pressure-minimizing pumping costs.

At the city's waste water head works holding tank levels are maintained by controlling start/stop of lift pumps and flow gate positioning.

Communications between remote sites and the central office is accomplished via radio telemetry. An integrated SCADA system records the operating status of pumps, flow rates, line pressures, VFD speeds, volumes pumped, water levels, gate positions, operating hours, system faults, alarm condition paging and alarm history. These variables are presented on a daily, weekly, and year-to-date basis including historical trending. The system includes automatic dial-up paging for maintenance under alarm conditions and provides remote control capability via modem and PC.

Provided: PLC and HMI programming, auto dial alarm system, trending and database recording, control panel assembly, electrical control schematics.
